Family Is What It's All About

Do you ever take the time to think to yourself "Why am I doing this, and who am I doing this for?"

Especially when it comes to our careers, a lot of times we lose sight of what is actually important in our lives. We all do it. To some degree it's human nature to lose that focus. We let ourselves get into an endless cycle of trying to achieve our goals at all costs, yet we forget the reason why we started.

Success isn't defined solely by the number in your bank account.

Family + Faith + Fitness + Finance = Success

All of these add up to what I define as true success.

What's important is who's important. Always think about what you can do for family, friends, or even strangers before you think about what you can do for yourself. Yes, financial goals may still be involved, but that doesn't paint the full picture, but to me more money has always meant more people that can be helped.

Time moves quickly, and you don't want to be stuck thinking about what you could've done, such as spending more time with your kids, or showing your wife how much you appreciate her, etc.

Recently I spoke with one of my favorite athletes, and an amazing man, Don Mattingly. We were talking about why he retired, and I got a surprising answer.

Imagine you play 13 years in the Major Leagues without winning one World Series and then retire one season before the start of a dynasty. How would you feel? You would expect him to regret his decision to retire, but that could not have been further from the truth.

Don is a true family man and when you watch this video, you will understand why. There are a lot of things in life much more important and valuable than any championship ring.
